Market leading contract underlay, Duralay’s Durafit System is a big hit on Merseyside topping the bill at the first ever Beatles-inspired hotel. The Hard Days Night Hotel is a four-star boutique hotel and opened its doors on February 1 to coincide with Liverpool being named the European Capital of Culture for 2008.
The Hard Days Night Hotel development has cost over £20m and has been developed by Bowdena Ltd. The hotel is themed with specially commissioned artwork, photographs, memorabilia and artefacts throughout the hotel.
Situated in the Beatles Quarter, only yards away from the site of the Cavern Club, the hotel features 110 guest rooms and two penthouse suites, restaurants, bars, conference rooms and wedding suite.
To maintain the high standards, Carpeting Merseyside was commissioned to undertake floorcoverings work. Managing director John Garvey said: “There was no hesitation in the decision to use the Durafit System with Durafit 650 as the underlay for the main areas. There is nothing to compare with it.”
Over 2,000 metres2 of Durafit was used in the reception, bar, dining, stairway, hall and lounge areas of the hotel. “Durafit means getting extra wear and less movement from the carpet,” said John.
With thirty years experience in the floorcoverings business, Carpeting Merseyside has been involved with many of Liverpool’s major attractions including the Albert Dock. “We are currently working on refurbishment at the Holiday Inn Liverpool where once again we are using Durafit,” said John.
And at the Hard Days Night Hotel general manager Mike Dewey said: “The underfoot comfort and stability of Durafit creates just the right quality feel that clients of a four-star boutique hotel expect. We are very pleased with the results.”
